Senior Stroke Local Research Network (SLRN) Research Nurse

Band: 7 £30,460 to £40,157 pa.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Fixed Term: 1 Year in the first instance / Secondment Opportunity.

Base: Blackpool Victoria Hospital but extensive travel across the North West and particularly Cumbria and Lancashire is required.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced research practitioner to join the North West Stroke Research Network as a Senior Stroke Local Research Network (SLRN) Research Nurse / Team Leader for Cumbria & Lancashire.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team of clinical and research nurses, therapists and clinicians across the region, in the conduct of clinical research, for the development of the knowledge base and treatment of stroke patients.

The applicant will have substantial experience in clinical stroke care, the conduct of clinical research trials and experience of managing a team. We will consider candidates with strong person-centred, clinical and managerial qualities indicated within the person specification and meeting the characteristics of 'The Blackpool Way'.

The post holder will be based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital , but have line management responsibilities for stroke research practitioners across Trusts in Cumbria & Lancashire. The post holder will ensure that all clinical research across the region is ICH-GCP compliant and conducted in accordance with the relevant protocols. The willingness and ability to travel across the region to provide support and attend meetings is an essential requirement of the post.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop their management experience by involvement in the strategic development of the North West Stroke Research Network.
