Meeting programme and booking form The Stroke Association funding opportunities - Research Project Grants (see Research Funding Page) NewsStroke Matters, The Stroke Association quarterly e-publication for professionals in health and social care was launched at the UK Stroke Forum in December 2008. The publication promises to deliver interesting and accurate news on stroke issues, carefully selected by an expert multidisciplinary editorial board comprising leading stroke specialists. The latest issue is due out on the 3rd February 2010
LAST SRR MEETINGAn excellent Summer Meeting was held at the University of Bath on 1st and 2nd july 2009. The meeting was jointly held with the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, Rehabilitation and Bioengineering Special Interest Group and was hosted by Dr Nigel Harris and Dr Ailie Turton. Our thanks to local organisers, Ali Taylor of Bath Institute of Rheumatic Diseases and her team, for their hard work in administering this conference. Also thanks to our symposia speakers: Dr Lance McCraken, Dr Candy McCabe, Dr Diane Dixon, Dr Claudia Metzler-Baddeley, Dr Duncan Wood, Professor Jane Burridge and Dr Andy Veil. Our thanks also go to David Condie, a past president of the SRR, who gave us a Bioengineers Tale. There was a lively discussion of the place of rehabilitation technology in clinical practice ten years from now. Symposia presentations are available for members to view on our membership page. The International Journal of Therapy and Rehabilitation (IJTR) (www.ijtr.com) is the leading interdisciplinary review journal for all allied health professionals working in therapy and rehabilitation. IJTR promotes interdisciplinary practice through the publication of high quality original research, clinical reviews and evidence-based articles from a range of disciplines. VERNA WRIGHT PRIZES 2009Congratulations to Sarah Demain for her presentation at the Summer meeting in Bath. She is the winner of the Verna Wright prize for oral presentation this year. Also congratulations to Ruth Turk for her poster presentation also at the Summer meeting in Bath. She wins the Verna Wright prize for the best poster presentation of the year. Prizes will be presented at the Winter meeting in Salford, 2010. COUNCILMarian Brady and Roshan Nair will join the council in 2010. Details of current council members are on the council page.
