JOINT BASP AND NIHR CRN: STROKE WRITING GROUP APPLICATION CALL

SECOND COMPETITION

You will be aware that last year BASP and the NIHR Stroke Research Network ran a call for writing group applications. This was designed to support doctors, nurses and allied health professionals from more than one institution, other experts (e.g. statisticians, health economists, qualitative researchers, etc.), and patient and carers in undertaking a series of meetings to develop a grant application and to enhance the NIHR SRN portfolio of randomised clinical trials and other well-designed studies in acute stroke, and stroke prevention and rehabilitation.

We are very pleased to announce, that with the support of the British Association of Stroke Physicians, that the NIHR CRN: Stroke is jointly issuing a further call to doctors, nurses and allied health professionals for writing groups to support portfolio development across the stroke pathway. A maximum of £2,000 per writing group will be available, and the Stroke Association have kindly agreed to offer their premises across the United Kingdom to facilitate these writing group meetings.

It is anticipated that up to 2 applications will be funded, following peer review by representatives of the BASP Scientific Committee, NIHR CRN: Stroke National Specialty Group and other invited reviewers. Successful applicants will be notified by 1st September 2016. It will be a condition of funding that NIHR CRN: Stroke and the British Association of Stroke Physicians are acknowledged in outputs from the writing groups, including grant applications and any future publications from funded studies.

The closing date for this first competition is Thursday 30th June 2016 at 1700, and completed applications and supporting documents should be forwarded to Janette Moore (jam48@le.ac.uk).

If you have any questions about the process, then please forward these to Janette Moore for our consideration.
